Rode from Ottawa to Garnett with a hybrid bike with 700*32 tires, it was very soft so soft that by the time I got to Ritcmond I was beat up just like riding uphill the whole way, I was hard headed and head it to Garnett it was little better but still sinking a lot. I made it back to Richmond completely done :) could not finish to Ottawa. I guess I am a little out shape but it was fun, and well a...

I usually put my bike up for the year at the end of October. This year for several reasons I hadn't. Here comes the last day of the year and the weather, while a bit windy, is sunny and in the 60's. I just had to get one more use out of that 2011 Trail permit! It was really neat to ride the trail on Dec. 31st. I rode north of Carlye with my daughter. I was able to take a winter pho...

I am currently preparing pages for Basset and Humboldt in preparation for the opening of the new section of the trail. Unfortunately, I have no pictures for these pages.

Does anyone have some good pictures of the trail for these two areas, preferably from the areas that the trailhead would be. I am looking for hi-res jpegs at least 600 pixels wide. I will give you full credit for th...

Looking to try a ride during chritmas break with a couple hybrids and one road bike. Maybe a 50 one day and 50 back the next. Any suggestions on bikes able to do it and maybe some camping spots if not just stay in cheap hotel. Maybe starting at south side and back there next day. Thanks in advance.

I have never biked the trail, but I have jog/hiked it (split up in two days). I now live in Iola and have been hiking on the trail,in smaller sections however. A month after I moved here I broke my leg really bad and am just now getting to where I can walk about 6 miles without too much pain. I don't see many hikers on the trail, which is a shame, but I would like to encourage more to come. T...

I am starting to look into getting a bike Garmin to replace my cycle computer. The problem is I don't even know what to start looking at and what I should be looking for.

So.....

what have you been using and what seems to be the best feature. What could you live without? What is a necessity?

Finally, where have you seen the best prices?

It's a glorious day. I just got back from a ride. If you haven't gotten out on the trail yet, this may be your last chance for good weather.

Man, it's beautiful out there....

Did the whole trail and back Wed (6/15). 13-hr total time is not great on a perfect mild day with perfect trail conditions. The trail was firm from end to end. Saw three bicyclists outside the city limits. Most activity was within them on this weekday.

The wildflowers were blooming big-time with more on the way. Although I have good references for identifying them, there were so ma...

9/14&16. Finished my two separate-day ride of the PSRT yesterday (72 & 32-miles w/short turnabouts, side-trips, and a lunch in Garnett). The shorter ride Friday gave me more time to enjoy the early-fall country settings. Super!

The trails surface is firm. The department has done a great job of 1) filling its cracks, 2) posting surface-change advisories at the trailheads, and 3) fen...
