Garnett (Lake Garnett)

Ate lunch at Tradewinds the weekend of April 28th (2012). Arrived at 11 AM on Saturday, their opening time. Nice enough little bar & grill, with friendly small-town service and patrons.

Got the cheeseburger with fries - nice stop in the middle of a long ride from Ottawa to Iola (with the return trip the following day).

Had the lunch buffet here last thursday. Cheap, well-prepared and very filling. The desert was nothing special but the ice cream machine made up for it....

I had lunch at the Coffee Loft yesterday. The food and atmosphere are great here. The owners have really worked hard to create a modern, urbane environment. The lunch crowd appeared to be a nice cross-section of the local community.

Stopped here today in the middle of a 50 miler from Ottawa to Garnett and back.

While I had heard that there was good food here, I was not prepared for a very impressive bistro atmosphere with marble-top tables and an impressive menu.

While I had a very good reuben, my traveling companion had a chicken artichoke panini which looked better. The staff was very attentive...

The website for this place says that it provides bike service. Does anyone know what this entails? Do they have a garage with tools or do they have experience and stock things like tubes?

I have eaten here twice and both times left very full and happy. Makes sure that you stray from the conventional "combo" parts of the menu and try the house specialties. Excellent, cheap and 50 feet from the trail.
