Richmond
Mile Marker:73.7
| It is 6.4 miles north to Princeton. | It is 2.4 miles south to Scipio. |
|---|---|
| The trail between Princeton and Richmond is wooded on both ends with most of the central section being open prairie. The grade rises slightly towards Richmond. Leaving Princeton, you cross the first bridge on the trail as you head south. Soon after the woods give away and if there is a wind, you will feel it. As you approach the crossing of Missouri Road, you will see a circular house off to the right with a deck all the way around it. Ahead is the distance you will soon spot the Beachner grain elevator. Once the trail becomes shady and surrounded by trees again, you are within a mile of the Richmond Trailhead. | After passing under Highway 59, the evelvation starts to rapidly drop as you make your way to Scipio Road. As you near the road you will be coming around a small prairie hill to your right. You should be able to see St. Boniface's church at the top of the hill to your left. |

It is always a pleasant stop to pick up a bit of ice cream or a soft drink to get you to the next stop. A welcome respite after the climb from Ottawa or Pottawatomie Creek.... |
